Yes. Every puppy we raise is AKC registered, so you’re getting a purebred Vizsla with documented parentage.

Our puppies come from hunting and field-trial lines with a touch of show. That mix produces well-rounded dogs that do equally well in the field and at home.

Absolutely. While our lines have strong hunting instincts, our puppies are raised to be affectionate, well-socialized companions for families.

Yes. Our hunting and field-trial lines produce pups with natural bird drive, and many of our puppies go on to hunt with their families.

Vizslas are a solid golden-rust color that ranges from lighter golden shades to deeper russet. Small white markings on the chest or toes are allowed by the breed standard.

Your puppy is held for you and you can follow the litter’s progress through the photos we post on Facebook. We’ll also arrange times for you to visit and to take your puppy home.

Call us as soon as possible to talk it through. Keep in mind the $300 deposit itself is non-refundable.

Please call ahead so we can make sure we’re home and the puppies are ready for visitors. We’re available from 8:00 am to 8:30 pm every day.

Ganado is roughly 95 miles southwest of Houston, about an hour and a half by car. Many of our families drive down from the Houston area.

Victoria is about 30 minutes from us. San Antonio and Austin are each roughly two and a half hours away by car.

Yes. We deliver puppies to all states, and our Vizslas live with families across the country — including one pup thriving in Albuquerque. Call us to arrange delivery.

Puppies typically go home at around eight weeks old, once they’ve been wormed and had their first vaccinations.

Vizslas are generally a healthy breed, but like all breeds they can be affected by conditions such as hip dysplasia, epilepsy, eye conditions and hypothyroidism. Regular vet care, a healthy weight and responsible breeding all help.

Vizslas typically live 12 to 15 years. With good food, exercise and regular vet care, many stay active well into their senior years.

Our puppies are raised in the countryside outside Ganado with daily care, handling and attention. We raise them to be well-socialized and ready for family life.

The Vizsla is a Hungarian pointing and retrieving breed known for its golden-rust coat, athleticism and affection. It’s a versatile gun dog that is just as happy curled up at home with its people.

Males usually stand 22 to 24 inches at the shoulder and females 21 to 23 inches. Most adults weigh roughly 45 to 65 pounds, with males on the heavier end.

Vizslas are gentle and affectionate and generally do very well with children. Because they’re energetic, supervise young kids with a bouncy puppy and teach both to play calmly.

Most Vizslas are social and enjoy the company of other dogs. Early socialization helps them grow into polite, confident adults.

Many Vizslas live happily with cats, especially when raised together from puppyhood. Their bird drive is strong, so small pets and pet birds need careful introductions.

Vizslas bond closely with their people and like to be physically near them — on the couch, in the car, underfoot. That affection is a big part of the breed’s charm.

Vizslas have a short, single coat and shed lightly. A weekly rub with a rubber curry brush keeps loose hair under control.

Their short coat helps, but the Texas summer still calls for care. Exercise early or late in the day, provide shade and plenty of water, and watch for signs of overheating.

An adult Vizsla typically needs at least an hour of vigorous exercise every day, plus mental stimulation. Puppies need shorter, frequent play sessions rather than long runs.

Vizslas are intelligent and eager to please, which makes them quick learners. They’re also sensitive, so they respond best to positive, reward-based training.

Start the day your puppy comes home. Name recognition, crate training, house training and a simple sit can all begin right away in short, fun sessions.

Take your puppy out after waking, eating and playing, and at least every couple of hours. Praise and reward outside, use a crate at night and stay consistent — most pups catch on within a few weeks.

Vizslas are people dogs and can struggle with long hours alone. Build up alone time gradually from puppyhood and give them plenty of exercise before you leave.

Feed a quality puppy food, divided into three meals a day for young pups. Your vet can recommend a food and help you adjust portions as your puppy grows.

A quick weekly brushing, regular nail trims and an occasional bath are all a Vizsla needs. Check and clean the ears regularly, especially after swimming.

Introduce your puppy to new people, sounds, surfaces and calm, vaccinated dogs in short, positive experiences. Follow your vet’s advice about where it’s safe to go before vaccinations are complete.

Many owners introduce birds and gentle retrieving games in the first months, keeping everything playful. More formal field training usually begins as the puppy matures.

A secure fence is strongly recommended. Vizslas are fast and curious, and a bird or rabbit can send them off at full speed.

They can be, if you’re ready for an active, affectionate dog that wants to be with you. Commit to daily exercise and consistent, gentle training and a Vizsla will reward you many times over.

Yes. We occasionally stud out our AKC-registered males, which were selected for their outstanding qualities and adherence to the AKC breed standard.

Our males include Rocky and Gunner. Get in touch and we’ll talk through which sire is the best fit for your female.

Your female should be AKC registered, healthy and of mature breeding age. We’ll discuss health records and timing with you before any breeding.

Females are bred during a specific window in their heat cycle, and your veterinarian can pinpoint the timing with progesterone testing. Contact us early in her cycle so we can plan together.

When both parents are AKC registered and the paperwork is completed, the litter can be registered with the AKC. We’ll help with the sire’s side of the paperwork.
